Esalen Institute - Big Sur, CA A retreat center based in central California with a rich history. Farmer Ben was tasked with retooling the Farm and Garden in 2008 when he was teaching seminars there which later led to him taking on the role of Farm and Garden supervisor for 3 years. In that time the Farm and Garden reinvented itself with a focus on production and education. Maintaining a 5 day a week harvest for the kitchen for 48 weeks out of the year with over 200 participants in the residential education and internship programs as well as supplying fresh veggies to the local Big Sur community for 26 weeks. Point Reyes Residence - Pt Reyes Station, CA Sym Van Der Ryn designed home A 1 acre private residence on a non developed parcel outside Pt.Reyes Station. Worked with client on concepts, design and build of all ecological systems supporting the house. Greywater, Rainwater, stormwater and living roof as well as layout of earthworks and integration of native landscape. Oceansong Farm and Wilderness Center, Occidential, CA A rural farm and wilderness center based in coastal California, 360 acre property with a 9 acre certified organic farm. Farmer Ben brought the farm out of a 12 year hibernation and grew for the extended community of west Sonoma County from 2003-2007.
